WHERE GOOD IDEAS COME FROM by Steven Johnson

He talks about only one of I think many ways thoughts and ideas react with each other and Bubble Up to the top.
There is such a thing as an inventors mind verses say a cop or military or most other of the "professionals" minds.

It's funny just a few minutes ago the thought came to me about ideas and where do they come from and as far as I can tell this is the only site that directly deals with this exact issue.
    THANK YOU!!!

He is wrong. His so called "innovation" or good ideas in the past before the last 15 years are what we can call "one standard deviation" good ideas. They might have helped an individual or an organization; they had little value to public. In the past 15 years, the so called great connection gave much, much more noises than what he may call "noodling", "back burning" ideas. Such noises did not create good ideas; they waste your time

Interesting approach. We are doing a webinar about how to start innovation – and found the most successful innovation is born out of necessity and built around and for people.

I really liked the "slowly simmering, collision of hunches" model for good ideas! One of my best ideas was just like that: an idea for a show that took years to be a full idea. I had this basic concept (Which was based on something from Pokemon) when I was a kid. I didn't think about it again for years, then I revisited it later and played with the idea a bit more, adding onto it. Soon after that I discovered the show Steven Universe and made even more edits to the concept (partially to avoid "copying" them, partially to learn from their mistakes). It was then that I realized I had something worth putting effort into and to this day I write draft scripts for episodes with no idea how to actually make it a real animated show.

i do stuff , don't quite like it so I go look for something more closer to what I like but can not ever find it. then I think why don't they have this? It happen to me all the time. if only I can put it together and have connection. I believe, I be very wealthy today but I just get stuck with the concepts and go nowhere..
by the way, does inventors ever work in shopping places?

This is simply intuition. In introverted intuition it's taking a wealth of experience, having a problem to solve and using that experience to come up with an idea which will solve the problem. They show this technique in cooking shows all the time – having a whole bunch of random ingredients and then asking contestants to come up with a meal from the ingredients. This takes a lifetime to get really good at, constantly building on the similarities between things to come up with new ideas all the time.
