Western Malaise and The Celebration of Mediocrity

if there's one clear symptom that's characteristic of the continued collapse of the West it's a general malaise and a kind of self-loathing and neuroticism among many of its people to the point where there seems to be no longer an inspirational spirit to achieve greatness moral and cultural relativism has people so wracked with inner guilt for simply existing it seems that they'll defend cultures and values that are antithetical to their own just to appear virtuous and self righteous but you can't win a football game with such a mentality if you have to occasionally pass the ball to the opposing team and at best you're only playing for a draw you're going to lose Douglas Murray touched on this mentality in his book the strange death of Europe where he described it as a kind of tiredness like some Europeans feel that the story of their people is over to the point where we no longer take our own side in the argument anymore I think that's a good way of putting it but I think this malaise has also become merged with relentless calls for equality in everything specifically equity outcomes and it's obviously unworkable and ridiculous many on the Left love it when it comes to things like education enrollment representation in college and the workplace mainly because they're often of a socialist disposition and can't stand the idea of fair and open competition that rewards meritocracy likewise the emergence of the body positivity movement is another example of a kind of cultural sickness and obsession with mediocrity and what I'd call give up Isis you'll probably remember that recently in London the beach body ready ads were removed from London tubes because some triggered feminists complained about how they were promoting an unrealistic unrepresentative body size the truth is that all bodies are ready for the beach although we can all think of the kinds of body sizes we definitely don't want to see walking around in bikinis on the beach well it's a good thing another company decided to respond to this we're beach body ready and underneath it it says at Navabi we believe your beach body ready just the way you are enjoy your life love your body well no one is saying that you can't go to the beach with a plus-sized physique it's just not quite as aesthetically pleasing to look at unsurprisingly people like to lose weight and look their best they want to get in good physical shape because they like the idea of looking and feeling good it feels good to have a desirable body shape to be attractive to the opposite sex as opposed to being unattractive to the opposite sex which you're more likely to be if you're morbidly obese also you're more likely to suffer from all manner of health complaints in later life I mean people who are much more overweight obviously have shortened lifespans for a reason you may also remember these tweets recently from Gillette Venus is committed to representing beautiful women of all shapes sizes and skin types because all types of beautiful skin deserve to be shown we love Anna because she lives out loud and loves her skin no matter how the rules say she should display it ah well the the rules you refer to well they're not so much rules staying in shape keeping healthy taking regular exercise and having a balanced and responsible diet is more of a strongly suggested set of guidelines that come from nature and have been taken for granted by society as a result you'll live longer have less health problems and be physically more attractive to the opposite sex not because of some contrived social construct or societal conditioning or brainwashing from the media that tells people what they should find attractive but because we're naturally wired to seek signs of fitness in prospective mates the reason being because these are characteristics that we want passed on to our offspring as health vitality and fitness are key components in one's ability to compete and survive in an environment also it's really disturbing this idea that everything and everyone is beautiful now this body positive idea that all thighs they're beautiful there's a reason why we have a word for beautiful because it means something because it's rare a lot of things are not beautiful there's a reason why we have a word for intelligent because unfortunately some people are not look 50 miles an hour is simply not as fast as 100 miles an hour no matter how much you pretend like all speeds are equal some people have IQs of 85 other people it's 120 all grades are certainly not equal a c-minus in your mathematics exam does not equal an A+ some people are lucky they won the genetic lottery and are extremely attractive some of us are not as fortunate as the beautiful people however that does not mean one should simply cash in one's chips and pile on the pounds yet still expect to be considered desirable even beautiful people can mistreat their bodies and undermine their good looks by becoming very overweight so as much as we're capable we should all strive to be fit and healthy and obviously there's a small number of people who have debilitating conditions that prevent them from exercising but there's no excuse for the rest of us now we have people clamoring for their body size to be represented in the interests of inclusion even though they weren't excluded before their sizes were always catered for with large extra-large extra extra large these sizes have always existed but nowadays everything has become an identity and everyone seems to fit within an identity group so some of these snowflakes seem to consider their fatness to be as defining a characteristic as their race or gender now obviously that's ridiculous on the face of it as weight is something that can be changed you can lose weight the body positive movement is responsible for telling young people to not bother aspiring to lose weight and become slimmer and healthier because apparently the issue is not with their size the issue is with society the rest of the world has the problem apparently everyone else needs to change not you everyone else is simply fat phobic this is how you produce narcissistic entitlement and the reinforcement of unhealthy behavior we shouldn't be encouraging anyone to remain huge any more than we should encourage people to remain anorexic and like I said earlier socially constructed ideas about beauty have evolved naturally over time similarly we have socially enforced ideas about cleanliness you can't exactly expect to be accepted when you show up to a date having not showered in several weeks throughout history we have had artistic depictions of the human form that were considered aspirational and a celebration of beauty be it male or female it's not that these were necessarily designed to be erotic depictions of human bodies but they were at least seen as the human form at its very best and most powerful the epitome of health and beauty but generations snowflake expects a participation medal for finishing last in the egg and spoon race at sports day so apparently all body shapes are beautiful now and everyone is perfect just the way they are now this may be comforting to some people but it doesn't make it true and it's an irresponsible lie that certainly won't help anyone in the long run but I'll bring this full circle and say that there are many challenges and illnesses facing the West instead of promoting fair and open competition and merit the left champions equity outcomes and affirmative action pride in one's nation is seen as racist or exclusionary legalizing abortion in my own country was celebrated on the streets with tears of joy marriage and the family are seen as archaic institutions to be torn apart everything has been morally inverted so it's not surprising that something so degenerate like the body positivity movement would emerge in such a turbulent time for the Western world so political correctness has literally taken our society to such a ridiculous direction where people have gone from celebrating a healthy and attractive body size that most women would aspire to to finding it offensive and celebrating the mediocrity of obesity and lying about how its attractive and of course there's no focus on how this body size carries with it some serious long-term health risks but apparently body-positive feminists find this liberating and stunning and brave or something it truly is as if a malaise of self-loathing has descended upon our society anyway any companies celebrating or attempting to normalize this unhealthy obese body size should be boycotted in my view anyway guys thanks very much for watching this video looking forward to your comments below and I'll see you next time you

Body-positivity seems to be equivalent to gaining weight, so does body-negativity involve losing it?

Funny, I wrote many rants regarding this topic in comment sections. The cult of mediocrity that has taken over our society is an absolute travesty. I honestly struggle as to why anyone would turn away from the excellent and beautiful willingly. The only thing that makes live worth living is it's moments of beauty and excellence, in music, science, philosophy, art, and of course, our own bodies. Without those moments life is a miserable and nihilistic slog to the grave. In my opinion, the glorification of mediocrity, the mundane, the grotesque, speaks to an unbalanced and destructive state of mind. Life is an inhospitable place for those that shun the beautiful, and by god, these people are all to willing to drag all of us into their dark and cold self-made hell.

The only point of contention I have is the evolutionary overtone.
As if the only reason we want to look good is to produce offspring.
It's overtones like this that make the theory seem more religious than proposed.

I mean, the meat of your argument is not opposed to the creationist models. It's the seasoning.

Im sure some of this comes from our enemies. They use social media and internet as a whole to push things like "fat phobia". Just imagine how easy it is when you as another country can use the internet and know that the west doesnt censor the internet (well, except normal healthy content of course). You cant do it to China since they censor their internet but they can do it to us. Get into forums, chat rooms and on the big platforms and then just start ideas like "fat phobia", "white people bad", "the west bad", "men bad" etc etc. Its so easy to push this narrative for our enemies so im sure they are.

The "rules". Ah you mean our biologically coded rules that gives us signals if another living thing is healthy or not? A blob who is proud over being a blob signal to all of us that we're dealing with a lazy person who doesnt care about his/her health.

    Pathetic & ridiculous! Men & women are opposites, like hot/cold, white/black, on/off. Beauty/ugly..fat/thin…get it?!

I blame unions. That probably sounds like a conservative cliche or trolling, but I really do blame unions. They started off necessary and quickly became consumed by corruption. In factories, unions would (and likely still do) violently enforce mediocrity. Anyone that dared to produce more for the sake of earning more money would be literally beaten down to the level of the laziest worker. In fields where success is less easy to measure than how much you manufacture daily, unions would be the first to file civil suits for discrimination. Other workers would have to gather mountains of evidence before a company could even consider firing someone that's black or a woman regardless of how lazy or incompetent they are.

I got a 17 year old cousin that is morbidly obese to the point that being mistaken for being pregnant or I worry that if she did get pregnant we wouldn't know by her showing until it was 8 months along.

She has vertical stretch marks over 8in long but I'm an asshole if try to help pay for her to go on a protein diet with exercise.

I mean if she was anorexic it would be totally fine to comment that because she's obese we have to ignore it like it's a big elephant in the room.

Our society is getting so fucked up that people can't even take reality or telling the truth is taboo.

This malaise is the anti-thesis of an ideology that for 60 years told people that "You can be anything you want to be!"
That kind of aspirational thinking ultimately leads to disappointment, as the truth is, not all of us can be anything we want to be…we can't all be models, youtubers and doctors…we can't all be rich and have wonderful lives.

This kind of advertising speaks to those who are disappointed with life – who failed in their life aims and ultimately didn't succeed…the slogan is now "It's acceptable to fail"

about the bikini ads… i would say there is a level of truth in the "body positivity" nonsense. a very small level. i do remember the opposite problem with models not too long ago. anorexia & bulimia. as it is, we now have photoshop and present an idealized version of women. i would argue this has tainted our views of a natural healthy woman. bikini clad girl in the billboard is most likely not the breeder type, nor is that land whale.

"these sizes have always existed" i don't know about that. certainly not at the level, and commonality, we have today. if you were a "large" person back in the day, you would most certainly have to go to a tailor, or marry someone handy with a needle.
