The Next Technological Advancement That Saves You Time

What do you think is next? Like if you at the cellphone and you look at technology and the integration in our lives. What do you think is the next step? I dont think people understand. People don’t understand People don’t understand I don’t think people actually understand what the f*ck is actually coming. Every single person here besides the health and well being of their family and money… values time. As we become more busy… we start valuing time tremendously. When you’re looking at video it is taking up your time. Audio is incredibly passive. Passive. Passive. though for everybody kind of passively consumes. pay triple attention. Listening to something in the first five minutes when you wake up and getting out of bed and getting ready . Is information that you’re consuming.. that you’re not looking at your phone because you’re in the shower. Like imagine brushing your teeth in the morning. Remembering that you need socks and saying in your bathroom … Hey Google. Hey Apple. Hey Alexa. Hey Facebook or whatever else comes out. Because the next search engine is voice. And Alexa’s ahead. Hey Alexa, buy my soap. Alexa, play my daily briefs. Alexa, who’s Kobe Bryant? Alexa, play i’m still standing by Elton John. Hey Alexa, when does England play in the world cup? That exists… because I know that’s the next landscape of attention. And I genuinely believe that voice as a platform is going to be a much bigger deal in entertainment, in utility, in commerce. Instead of predicting… I just recognize that voice is working. That podcast consumption is on the rise… It’s just being first faster and making a bet in the early indicators instead of guessing. So it feels like i’m predicting the future but i’m taking innovation that’s happening around me and i’m deploying it against my own reality at that time. My bet was that we would pick convience over history. Because I only care about one thing. One… One thing… The end customer. We will always pick convience over everything. It’s all about time saving. So Uber won because it saved you time. Prime wins because it saves you time. Anything that saves us time right? You guys want everything right now, always, fast, right now, always. Anything that’s slow? Sh*t! Like, slow internet is like devestating. Right!? Like, speed… we become addicted to speed. So I think voice is speed. Even if you have your phone right here. If you can say Alexa, or Google, or Apple.. What’s my.. What is my schedule today? And the house is talking to you.. it’s just faster then just taking your phone.. hitting.. turning on. It’s just friction and we hate friction. Alexa and voice is the future of a frictionless world. It is going to explode. There are things that you’re doing now. That will blow you away. That you’ll be doing only in voice. Like I genuinely think i’m going to poke my head out of the shower three times per shower saying tell Babin to meet me on 19th street. It’s going to be unbelievable speed, utility and I think for example texting will decline because it’s going to be faster to say it and get that person to know the information then it is to grab the phone and do it. Because I know in 2026… right? In 8 years when all of you realize how much better that is then this.. It’s going to matter. Hey Alexa, buy this. I mean that’s it. I just bought Doveman’s soap. Like what do people think is coming Pedro? Call Aj Vaynerchuk Calling Aj Vaynercock ( robot voice) Siri calls our last name VaynerCOCK!! ( laughs)

Totally agree, voice is the first layer to instantaneous, frictionless response. But here's where I think this gets really interesting. Today we live in a Google-run world where information is conjured up via our own research. Next, information is conjured up via the research of the voice-run system we're using (alexa/fb/google) referencing the platforms beneath that. Wave 3 is when "screens" re-enter our to AUGMENT our reality instead of INTERRUPT our reality. Ladies and gentleman, sh*t is about to get real.

Honestly they need to fix Alexa’s ability to access her skills. I can never remember all the specific prompts to operate it, then when you give it commands in skills it will 50% of the time activate the Alexa that doesn’t not understand the skill prompts 😐 Master that technology and Alexa will be 1,000 x’s better

I believe this 100% bc on the road and if the light just turned red or I'm in traffic and I see a text then I just press the mic button and speak what I want to say then send bc I'm not looking down at my phone, I'm looking up the whole time. Also when I'm gaming and someone texts me. I just do the same thing bc it's quick and easier than hiding and then typing. Really basic times people need or want to text but instead I use my voice

😂😂 be honest.. we all remember stuff mid week that we need to get and then get to the grocery store and buy everything but that. 😭 or at least I do and multiple times a week at that 😭

I used to be one of these Luddites saying "Voice search is a gimmick" and "Companies just want to listen to everything I do" UNTIL I got the Google Pixel 2 and realized how superior the tech is to traditional search. I would argue with people who used Siri all the time, "Does it really save time? Really? You have your phone in your hand anyway, you lazy shit." I can now say that I have been swayed by the Google Assistant on my phone. All the points you made here, Gary, are 100% true and people just don't get it. It's funny that I didn't even realize because here I was listening to audio books (listening to Crushing It rn actually), podcasts and music as my main form of entertainment and abandoning text messaging for conventional phone calls while simultaneously not adopting one of the best new tools at our disposal, Voice!

I recently bought an echo and my seven year old was more excited about this than she was her birthday. She was first in the house to make a request … it was: "Alexa, play Lady Gaga Bad Romance." Love it. Then she discovered that she could be a bit naughty with it … "Alexa, play the penis song." Now I know the lyrics to The Penis Song. One of the great things about her engaging Alexa is that it teaches her PATIENCE. She's gotta get her ducks in a row if she wants to get Alexa to do something for her. I just (as in right now in the middle of writing this comment) enabled Chineasy. My daughter is in a Chinese after care and learning Mandarin … let's see if Alexa can accelerate her learning.

I could see this coming to pass. But as far as having multiple resources to get info from, such as doing a google search and getting a list of different websites, internet based question-asking/info gathering would still be superior to Alexa’s, Echo’s etc single answer wouldn’t it? Unless there is a way to get those different options from these devices as well
