SEAS International Graduate Student: Yin from Malaysia

Hi my name is Yin Yiing Yeoh. I’m from Malaysia. I’m a second year Master’s of Cybersecurity in Computer Science candidate. The reason I pursued this field is due to my experience with computer malware. Since then, I’ve developed a strong interest and decided to pursue this degree. I’ve lived in D.C. for a year. The vast resources available at GW is the main reason I applied. In addition, GW offered the program that I wanted to pursue. During the typical weekday, I’m usually working on homework, assignments, and team projects. As for the weekends, I would hang out with my friends. I like the fact that DC has a lot of activities you can do. DC has many attractions, ranging from the White House, museums, and outdoor activities like biking, kayaking, and hiking. It has an activity that suits everyone. Malaysian food! Currently, I don’t have any specific plans. I’m hoping that I will be able to find a job in the U.S. to gain some skills and experiences After that, I’ll be returning home. I would advise students to get in touch with current students in the school they would like to attend, just to understand what it’s like to study in that school and live in the particular area. There are many types of information you could find online, but it’s always better to hear a current’s student’s perspective.
