RAF ICT Specialist

here we are the joint force air component headquarters or J fact is we are 90 signals unit like to refer three as this is just one of the many areas we can work as an ICT specialist a notch su team has just been deployed to offer our the comms infrastructure we've laid down to supply all that comms back to the UK we've been responsible for the satellite links boy comes your Reuters your switches anything the comms needs to go back to the UK and support the air power ICT Tech's are responsible for when they gaya where we've got ver bunch of land this could be anywhere it could it be into the Middle East or it could just be on exercise in the UK we've come in we get the SAP comes up we get the link back then it's about concentrating on the tented area where we've got to lay out all the switches the route is the computers the fiber optic cabling miles as you can see all around the building to go back to the satellite which we've also gotten communications back to the UK through when arriving on site the first piece of equipment to be set off is the satellite rear link which then leads into our cormorant wagons then into the ICT control area where all comms is monitored and that's all down to the ITC text on the 90s you team the ICT that's important to this headquarters is second to none and to give it a fighting chance it's got to be in additions air-conditioned dry environments and that's what this country is all about operational security is essential to the success of missions without it people can die the role of ICT technicians intra-group for is to ensure that the security of our networks are absolutely bulletproof ping delete my fee and then just move on to the next within every computer network it's very likely that there are possible weak points that might be exploited what we're looking for is an IP address which is inside the range one six nine is the role of technicians from the pipeline line signals janitors experts in computer security to make sure that that's not possible but so happy without them we need to check these systems to make sure they absolutely fill it through basically we hack systems so that others car further education is always encouraged and is funded by their all air force and all these skills that we acquire are fully transferable before I join the Royal Air Force I was a turkey farmer that's not for me I thought I want something more challenging something offers me some where I can have a career where the team even have a good bunch of friends around me and with playgroup for ITT I've got the luck whichever operation were involved in we need to have briefings before these briefs can commence we need to ensure the building is secure both physically and electronically as an ICT technician I am employed in very short soak models however currently I'm employed at five name one signals unit when a technical surveillance kada measures team basically what that means is that we look for books and other see two interfaces inside all MOT areas which means that when the commanders are given their brief regarding intentions of movement personnel and operations that information is safeguarded and can be kept secret at all teams good morning sir ma'am welcome to this morning's intelligence briefing this brief is classified secret we've had reports recently of an identified aircraft entering the uk's airspace in response to this we have the typhoon Eurofighter and the f3 tornado on standby RAF Coningsby and RAF Leuchars one ACC radar will continuously monitor the area and any incursions will be notified to the relevant authorities like one or radar is used for surveillance it monitors the skies a plays a critical role the security of the UK but an unknown aircraft is detected the signals are cleaned up by an operator the recognizable pictures and transmitted down communication lines to a fighter controller in tattoo air command center as the pop up pair of contacts throughout 0 4 0 70 neither ass walking mode 3 alpha or Charlie my rolls my CT technician to maintain or ground-based electronic component whoever it is located sir can you come to the ATP please me adventages Ballmer MC scrambling cube light and to intercept zombies are you are keen to go supersonic different before I joined the Royal Air Force I worked as a receptionist for a security firm however being and I'll go in a venturous person I wanted a more challenging exciting job that's when I decided to join the Royal Air Force I came here to RAF halted where I spent my first nine weeks basic training I learned sensual military skills I also made a few good friends who are sticking with contact with now after nine weeks of basic training we get to graduate my family came here to see me on my personal parade it was a very proud moment and a start we are EF Korea within the tactical air command center it's my role to maintain and service all of our high spec equipment which includes antennas modems servers IT equipment and all of our communication lines if there was a fault at any time it will be able to meet timelines a problem fix it straight away it's important our system stays serviceable so it can be deployed at any time for it simply no organisation can function properly without the use of IT or communications ICT technicians are the experts in this field I've been in the Royal Air Force four and a half years and I think this job is fantastic ten times four hours right Lexington through Fargo five zero zero six

well pooman, the RAF have the regiment, frontline SOLDIERS… I highly doubt like AlHillATC said " working dress light blue shirt, with shiny belt and beret" would be suitable to wear in combat situations…
All those as you call "troops" will have to go on guard at some point they wont want to stand in full on blues…

You'll find plenty of front line troops, airmen, sailors and Marines in Middle east. But, would it really be ideal on an exercise to wear your RAF working dress light blue shirt, with shiny belt and beret….I think not.
