– So the question is why
is informatics important? And I think it's important because we're the profession that connects data, that turns data into information and helps patients to manage their health along with the rest of their
care teams and their families. So, I got into informatics because I got to see first hand how patients with diabetes were helped. When their doctors had
information at their fingertips and could deliver better care because they had the
knowledge that they needed to help patients know what to do next. How to change their medications, how to adjust their diets, and seeing that was what
really got me into informatics in the first place.
