Thank you for such an amazing video 🙂 I would like to get the informatics certification (P4). I was wondering if for the ASHP, you need to be a licensed pharmacist or you can take it as a pharmacy student. Thank you

Also Brian, I want to ask you that if I do pgy2 informatics, am I allowed to work as a generalist pharmacist? Or I have to be limited to informatics only? Thanks a lot

Do you think that graduate certificate along with your doctorate degree? Or is it much better to do masters? Thank you Dr. Fung

Is there a chance for anyone to be a freelancer pharmacy informatics professional? I mean not working in a corporate environment.

Hi Brian, do you recommend attending Midyear for a pharmacist interested in this field but has been out of school for a few years?

Honestly it sounds like you have a lot of good information, but the jet engine in the background along with the endless loop made it impossible to listen for 20 minutes

Hi Brian! Glad to follow you. I'm a Pharm.D that did a Master's in Healthcare Informatics at University of San Diego. I work with the nurse informaticist at a small acute care hospital in California. Recently, I was approached by my manager to see if I was interested in taking on a pharmacy intern for an informatics rotation. Do you have any guidelines on how to create a syllabus? It will be the standard 6 weeks, and I want to make sure that the student gets the most out of it. The pharmacy school doesn't have a strong informatics course, unfortunately, so what I learned in my Master's program may be lost on them.

Looking at schools for healthcare informatics, I have a question about best schools and programs for future stability. I have clinical proficiency but the market where I am is completely saturated. It seems anyway. I enjoy computers and wish I focused on a computer based science. I have been looking at University of Illinois-Chicago's program. I have been looking into a masters in Health IT, which appears to be different than Informatics. I definitely dont want to get caught in a situation like what Pharmacy is now. Too many schools, wages dropping, and seems to be directed more toward a female profession. Your thoughts?

Hi Brian, I am a licensed Pharmacist but have worked in retail pharmacy mostly and one year in hospital pharmacy. However, I do not hold any job right now as I needed to take a break from work due to some emergency situation. I am trying to get a career in Informatics. I have seen your videos and thank you for all the information you have provided. I do have a question. In this video, you have recommended one of the pathways is getting certifications. I am leaning towards either ASHP or CAHIMS. Which one do you think is better? Or should I take both of them if that helps?

Is the ASHP Informatics Certificate available for pharmacy students or just pharmacists? I was hoping to take this certification program prior to a 4th year APPE rotation in informatics. Thanks!

Watched this all the way through. Very informative! Not sure why I never saw this before I think I was in Japan bathing in forests when it went live and I never got the notification. I’m going to try to squeak into some technical “informatics” type role within the next 5 years. Cv/resume what the heck are those. All my jobs have been from word of mouth and reputation based, so old school haha. I’m totally lacking in the formal pharmacy department. Happy 2018 🙌 my first hospital pharmacy gig

Hi Brian, I'm a P4 right now. I didn't apply to residency. What do you think about post grad certificate programs in pharmacy informatics? Some of them, you can roll over the credits to continue your masters also. Do you think that training is sufficient to get into the field?

Thanks for the video, Brian! I wanted to ask you about the ASHP informatics certificate. It says something like: to earn the certificate you have to submit an informatics project that was rolled out or something, then ASHP people evaluate it to give you your certification. So basically, does that mean you have to be working somewhere where you do a project for them? What if a person doesn't work at a place where they have an informatics role?

Hey Bryan, great video. In your opinion, would you say that you need a pharmacy job in school to get a residency, or would you say grades, extracurriculars, and research are much more important when applying?
