Thank you for such an amazing video 🙂 I would like to get the informatics certification (P4). I was wondering if for the ASHP, you need to be a licensed pharmacist or you can take it as a pharmacy student. Thank you
Hi Brian! I just found your videos and find them to be very helpful! How do you start looking for these pharmacist informatics jobs?
Also Brian, I want to ask you that if I do pgy2 informatics, am I allowed to work as a generalist pharmacist? Or I have to be limited to informatics only? Thanks a lot
Do you think that graduate certificate along with your doctorate degree? Or is it much better to do masters? Thank you Dr. Fung
Do informatics pharmacist get to work with big data like ML/AI/DL ?
Dr. Fung, I love this video! I’m a pharmacist currently working on my Master’s in Health Informatics and you made me feel like I made the right choice.
Is there a chance for anyone to be a freelancer pharmacy informatics professional? I mean not working in a corporate environment.
Hello Brain Fung, Thank for explaining this new era for pharmacy professionals, I am foreign Pharmacist and not working as a pharmacist here in USA , this pharmacy informatics certification program seems sound to get work and practice with my career. So what would you suggest me and how can get formal online course in short period?
Hi Brian, do you recommend attending Midyear for a pharmacist interested in this field but has been out of school for a few years?
Honestly it sounds like you have a lot of good information, but the jet engine in the background along with the endless loop made it impossible to listen for 20 minutes
Hi brother. I have a big question for you .

And please give a suggestion and please give clarification on pharmacy informatics . If you please possible send me a mail to me. Am so thankful to your help .of you do this for me.This is my email address
Thanks in advance.
Loads of good information. Thanks for sharing your insight!
Do you have an email? I have a few questions to ask.
Great advice! I thought about doing this field when I was in school. I just didn't get a residency haha
Thanks for this, a year later and still helping people! Great tips!
Hi Brian! Glad to follow you. I'm a Pharm.D that did a Master's in Healthcare Informatics at University of San Diego. I work with the nurse informaticist at a small acute care hospital in California. Recently, I was approached by my manager to see if I was interested in taking on a pharmacy intern for an informatics rotation. Do you have any guidelines on how to create a syllabus? It will be the standard 6 weeks, and I want to make sure that the student gets the most out of it. The pharmacy school doesn't have a strong informatics course, unfortunately, so what I learned in my Master's program may be lost on them.
Looking at schools for healthcare informatics, I have a question about best schools and programs for future stability. I have clinical proficiency but the market where I am is completely saturated. It seems anyway. I enjoy computers and wish I focused on a computer based science. I have been looking at University of Illinois-Chicago's program. I have been looking into a masters in Health IT, which appears to be different than Informatics. I definitely dont want to get caught in a situation like what Pharmacy is now. Too many schools, wages dropping, and seems to be directed more toward a female profession. Your thoughts?
Hi Brian, I am a licensed Pharmacist but have worked in retail pharmacy mostly and one year in hospital pharmacy. However, I do not hold any job right now as I needed to take a break from work due to some emergency situation. I am trying to get a career in Informatics. I have seen your videos and thank you for all the information you have provided. I do have a question. In this video, you have recommended one of the pathways is getting certifications. I am leaning towards either ASHP or CAHIMS. Which one do you think is better? Or should I take both of them if that helps?
Hi Brian, I work for a pharmaceutical copay card company. How does someone like me whose looking to further their career get into informatics? I work with pharmacies everyday.
Is the ASHP Informatics Certificate available for pharmacy students or just pharmacists? I was hoping to take this certification program prior to a 4th year APPE rotation in informatics. Thanks!
Watched this all the way through. Very informative! Not sure why I never saw this before I think I was in Japan bathing in forests when it went live and I never got the notification. I’m going to try to squeak into some technical “informatics” type role within the next 5 years. Cv/resume what the heck are those. All my jobs have been from word of mouth and reputation based, so old school haha. I’m totally lacking in the formal pharmacy department. Happy 2018 🙌 my first hospital pharmacy gig
Very Informative…..I fall within the 2nd pathway bucket.
Awesome videos! Thanks for keeping it real. Fourth-year pharmacy student in Virginia; I wished I saw your videos sooner. I would legit fly and do an informatics rotation with you if you ever took in students haha. Keep spreading the knowledge!
Got a B.S. in Comp Sci and certified in CPHIMS. No residency and tough to get into informatics. Don't know what else to do and can't afford to do residency.
This is the best video that affects my career forever OMG
Hi Brian, I'm a P4 right now. I didn't apply to residency. What do you think about post grad certificate programs in pharmacy informatics? Some of them, you can roll over the credits to continue your masters also. Do you think that training is sufficient to get into the field?
Thanks for the video, Brian! I wanted to ask you about the ASHP informatics certificate. It says something like: to earn the certificate you have to submit an informatics project that was rolled out or something, then ASHP people evaluate it to give you your certification. So basically, does that mean you have to be working somewhere where you do a project for them? What if a person doesn't work at a place where they have an informatics role?
Hey Bryan, great video. In your opinion, would you say that you need a pharmacy job in school to get a residency, or would you say grades, extracurriculars, and research are much more important when applying?
