Crossover Testing and Hiring Process Webinar – Crossover For Work

welcome to crossover testing and hiring process webinar I'll talk about how crossover will test your technical skills and what are the steps of our hiring process I'll also define a few of the career levels that we have and the required skill set for each one of them my name is Luciano Bergman I'm from Brazil and I am the principal technical valuator and architect which basically means that I run the team that creates the tests evaluate your submissions and will interview you during the evaluation process here is crossovers testing and hiring process in a nutshell first we will review your resume to check that your skills match with the job description then we may send you to hacker Inc for testing your fundamentals then you may receive either of 5qs for non-technical roles or a tech trial for technical roles passing this stage we will interview you in English of course and don't forget we require you to share your camera and screen after the interview all passers will have their background checked like your identity your previous jobs and if you have a good internet connection if everything is okay hiring managers from our customers will be able to contact you for an interview and talk specifically about the project and role you will be performing at their company if you both agree congratulations you are hired so what are the types of tests that we run we have three test types hacker ink fight cues and tag trial let's talk more about them hacker ink is your partner assessment platform and this is usually the first test that you encounter most roles technical or non-technical have the hacker in face but it is not mandatory hectoring tests contain multiple choice question and all coding exercises the duration ranges from 40 minutes up to 3 hours which is very rare and the average test duration is 60 minutes most of our tests are automatically graded in hacker ink so you should receive your pass/fail response within one hour after completion our non-technical roles are tested via 5 qs 5 qs or 5 questions rarely appear in the hiring process for technical roles 5 Q's are a set of scenario based desert ative questions where you are free to use all of your abilities experience and tools from your utility belt to answer them the questions may ask about management skills that you would apply to certain situations or can even require you to create spreadsheets in reports to solve the proposed challenges technical trial or take trial for close friends is how we call our coding challenge this challenge is usually a coding project that you have to develop and deliver with the best of your knowledge capacity in real life quality we want to make sure that the quality of the work that you develop in a daily basis is shown in your trial delivery so don't forget to keep a good eye on solution design maintainability and test automation this test will push you to your limits so give you three days to complete it be certain to have free time in a calm place to work on them before clicking the start button once it starts the clock will run and there's no coming back hands-on and fun time all of your submissions are reviewed by my team and graded accordingly we'll give you a feedback with the strengths and weaknesses of your submission and sometimes will even suggest you a couple places where you could improve your skills the results are usually sent two days after your submission but again it may take longer up to 5 days when you have a lot of competition the technical interview is the last phase of your skill certification at crossover this means that if you pass the interview you have successfully proven your technical skills and is available to be hired by our customers to schedule it we'll send you an email with some calendar slots that you can choose from once you pick one the interview will be scheduled and confirmed on the appointment time we will do a Skype call and we will ask you to share your camera and screen during the interview we get to know you a little better we would love to learn about your experience and past challenges and ask some questions about your knowledge you may also be required to work on some live coding trials so be ready after the interview I'll review the evaluator annotations and take the final decision you also receive some feedback about your strengths and weaknesses this final review should not take more than one day one thing that happens often is that sometimes we like you but don't feel that you are 100% ready for the position that you enrolled in this case will probably offer you another similar job in a lower career level with this you can start working with us and use some time to improve your skills to move up to the next level now let's talk a little bit about the career levels that cross over they are software engineer software architect and chief Software Architect all of our roles are full-time jobs meaning that you are required to work 40 hours per week we have been asked before but unfortunately we're not taking interns yet we're still working on a plan to ensure that both the intern and our customers are happy with the results stay tuned alright let's dive deeper the software engineer is a senior developer that knows one or two technologies very deep you are expected to have high quality standards and to be aware of modern technologies and practices usually you get assign it to an area the software being developed and with time may become the expert of that area the Software Architect or Project Architect is capable of working on all aspects of software development from requirements gathering up to deployment the architect is usually responsible for one project or certain areas of a bigger project he defines the design implementation approaches that should be used in his domain and he is also one of the quality Guardians making sure that the quality goals are being met before every release the chief Software Architect or Enterprise Architect is the last level before the CTO chief technology officer this means that the chief architect must have all of these Software Architect qualities plus some business oriented skills the CA chief architect for short must be communicative with great writing skills and must be able to speak to audiences and talk to stakeholders or customers about the technical aspects of the company products in a small software company decisions take by the chief arc that can make it or break it so the CIA must be familiar with the product development lifecycle being responsible for product technical feasibility and he also participates on business model definition target audience pricing and go no-go decisions for a product the chief archetype is also responsible for all technical aspects of portfolio projects defining product roadmaps in project cost revenue estimations in conjunction with other areas of the company he must be able to manage the Ok. Does Cross-Over think they are Google? And what's this about paying? To Interview? If that's the case, I was wondering where they got the money to buy up companies.

Personally, I'd love to have this information available in written form, rather than video. I can read much faster than you can talk

That's a lot of testing just to get to an interview. Having to spend hours and stress over tests just to prove that you are who you say you are is simple overkill. Plus it's a little insulting to the applicant to be honest. A 30' Skype interview with video should tell you all that you need to know about the person sitting across from you.

The evaluation wants you to participate and pay the amount to succeed and it was not a professional evaluation

That's a lot of steps before the candidate has an opportunity to evaluate their interest.  I would recommend a 15 min call for both parties to qualify.  Not a great way to land top talent…..
